Factors that Determine the Cost of a Metal Roof
A lot of people call us wanting to know the cost of a metal roof. When we get this question, we say there are several different factors that go into determining how much you’ll pay. Purchasing a new roof – no matter what type of material it’s made of – is obviously something that you can’t take lightly. Not only do you need to do a little research, you also need to call around and get inspections from different contractors. At Peak Roofing Systems, we have installed thousands of new roofs in the Dallas/Fort-Worth area, and we’ve been able to do so in the most affordable manner possible. Here are some things to consider if you’re in the market.
In a Nutshell
Basically, the cost of a metal roof will be about twice as much that of an asphalt shingle roof. However, it’s still less expensive than a roof made of slate. Metal roofing is not only very durable, it also has a long lifespan. Even better, it will help lower your energy bills and could substantially increase the value of your home.
These are some of the factors that will help determine how much you’ll pay if you’re interested in this type of roof:
- Insulation – If you have a metal roof installed, it’s important to note that your insulation will also need to be updated. Some manufacturers offer roofs that have a layer of soundproofing that is molded between the sheets of metal. Talk to your contractor to get the best idea possible of what type of insulation will be included.
- Material – Some people want their roof made out of steel because it typically offers more design options while also being durable. However, you need to be aware of the fact that this will typically double the cost of a metal roof.
- The Market – It is not at all uncommon for the price of metal roofs to fluctuate during the year. That’s why it’s important for you to get an inspection in writing so that you won’t be subjected to a price shift if the market suddenly shifts.
If you have any other questions regarding the cost of a metal roof, or you would like to schedule an appointment to have us come to your home and provide an inspection, feel free to call Peak Roofing Systems at 972-731-7663 or contact us online.
